About Arca
AI has set off a Cambrian explosion in scientific discovery. New molecules and treatments are being discovered at a pace the industry has never seen, yet getting them to the people who need them still takes a decade. The bottleneck is no longer the science. It's everything between the science and the patient.
Arca collapses that gap, applying the same intelligence that is accelerating discovery to the work of getting treatments into people's hands. Our long horizon agents automate tedious, manual workflows so the brightest in life sciences can focus on strategy, problem solving, and novel discovery.
We are a small, talent dense team building in person in New York City, with real customers, fast feedback loops, and a lot left to build. Arca is out of OpenAI's accelerator, and our team consists of staff engineers from Ramp, ex-government officials, and former founders.
Role
You will be one of the first engineers at Arca. There is no incumbent and no established playbook for agents in life sciences - you'll help write it. You will work across the stack, own systems from zero to one, talk to customers, and make decisions that shape the product and codebase for years.
What You’ll Do
- Own and architect core systems: document ingestion, permissions, agent orchestration, collaborative review, evals, and the infrastructure underneath it
- Ship full-stack features end-to-end, from database schema to API to UI
- Build AI-native product experiences
- Make technical decisions that hold up as we scale
- Work directly with customers across life sciences and turn what you learn into product direction and shipped code
- Mentor future engineers and raise the quality bar across the codebase
Nice to Haves
- Experience working at an early stage high-growth startup
- Experience across the full stack: frontend, backend, infrastructure, and LLMs
- You have been obsessively good at something and know what it feels like to chase excellence
Why Join
- Work that shortens the path between a scientific discovery and a patient
- Competitive compensation with founding-team-level equity
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
- Unlimited PTO
- Freedom, trust, and high influence on the trajectory of the company
- Build in person in New York City with a high-energy, social team
